Week 6 – Giving and Receiving and Pay It Forward

A very dear friend of mine has been enjoying a holiday in the US with her young son and she has given me permission to share this wonderful story.  I just welled up when I read it and quote it here in her own words:

Pay it forward: I was in Macy’s yesterday morning with Harry to buy a jumper. I’m hopeless at choosing clothes for me & was struggling with colour/size/style etc. A lady was watching me from across the till whilst paying for her shopping. She said “It’s at times like these, that you need your Mum’s honest opinion, right?” I explained that I don’t have my Mum anymore. She gave me that knowing look, the one that said in a million ways, that she too, had lost her beloved Mum. She kindly helped me which colour jumper to get and said her goodbyes. When I went to pay for my jumper, the check out lady, said, “There is no charge, that customer, she bought it for you – as a present from your Mum”. I dissolved in tears and was left speechless from her kindness. Pay it forward. I do, and will always teach Harry to.

This says it all and I don’t feel I need add anything else this week.
