Week 4 we have learned the difference between the ego ‘I’ and the spiritual ‘I’. The latter is what we all are. As has been said before we are spiritual beings having a human experience, not human beings having a spiritual experience.
So, the old ego based selfish thinking of ‘What’s in it for me’ is not conducive to the way we should conduct ourselves because as Haanel says in note 4 ‘…the real nature of this ‘I’ is spiritual, and is the source of the real power which comes to men and women when they come into a realization of their true nature’.
Harmony is the only way forward. Haanel reminds us in note 6 ‘‘The trained mind knows that every transaction must benefit every person who is in any way connected with the transaction…”
Haanel note 9 ‘One of the strongest affirmations which you can accomplish, is, “I can be what I will to be” and repeating this affirmation continuously forms a good habit which we are all striving for through our daily readings etc. However, he warns us in note 12 that if we are half-hearted about committing to making this a habit and don’t do it properly then we are still forming a habit but ‘…we are forming the habit of failure, absolute, ignominious failure.’ In other words don’t bother to start it in the first place.
However, if we do commit to this path by completing small tasks and thus forming good habits, which is the object of the tasks we have been given during these first weeks, you will find that ‘…..you can eventually control yourself” (Haanel 13) which means that ‘….you have found the ‘World Within’ which controls the world without.”
Everything we are reading and learning brings us to the realization that as spiritual beings we are part of the Universal Soul and all connected. We all have a purpose, which is to serve in whatever way we can with the talents that we have. If we give without expectations of outcomes or benefit to ourselves, the more we receive, which is the fundamental Law of Attraction. This Law is working all the time whether we believe in it or not, which is why it is so important to be master of our thoughts. This brings us right back full circle to learning to control what our conscious mind feeds into our subby who will be quite happy to say OK and go with the flow of whatever you say. So it makes sense to be the best you can be and only feed the subby the good stuff.
