Week 1 We Have Lift Off

I was recently asked to read The Summer Day by Mary Oliver at the funeral of a very dear friend. The last line of the poem reads:

Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

I have asked myself the question many, many times because I feel that I have been drifting without a real sense of where I’m going.

But now with the MKMMA course I believe that I’ve found the focus that I’ve been looking for to get to where I want to be.  It will require discipline, which will be a challenge because I’ve been used to bumbling along doing what I want to do when I want to do it – or not for a long time now and not being accountable to anyone but myself.  And there is definitely accountability on this course which is a bit scary!

But as Haanel says “Our future is entirely within our control” and “All growth is from within”.

What we think about comes about or as it says in Proverbs 23.7 ‘For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.’ Therefore, it is important to be very aware of my thoughts.   If I allow negativity and doubt to creep into my consciousness I will derail myself.

So, if I’m to fulfill the dreams of my one wild and precious life – no more bumbling – it’s time to take control and focus.

  4. Hi Roz

I’m right here with ya, Hearts and Minds in perfect harmony. I feel ya about accountability, but like the word says steel sharpens steel.
